A Vision for the Future
for Abingdon Town Council
Greg Lilly
4 Points for the Future
Quality of Life
Walkability, outdoor recreation, affordable housing, and equal treatment of all citizens contribute to our quality of life. These residents’ concerns should be Town Council’s concerns.
Diverse Economy
The town should focus on opportunities to enhance a variety of companies, mentorship for emerging small businesses, and workforce training to attract and keep our economy vibrant.
Tourism
We can't forget that tourism includes residents as well as visitors. Abingdon should welcome our citizens to events and focus on the residents' experiences.
Town Infrastructure
Street closures, utility work, changing fee structures, tax rates, and changes in ordinances (our local laws) should be communicated in a regular and consistent manner. Decision making needs more transparency.
Citizens' voices should be valued.
The town's "organization chart" should have the citizens at the top, not at the bottom. Change happens from the voters/residents.
